Facebook is migrating from Friendship and Likes to Love and Romance.

Facebook has launched its dating services in the United States, the company announced on Thursday, sending its shares up 2%.

The dating service is being launched more than a year after the company first announced it, raising questions as to why the tech giant that once had the motto “move fast and break things,” slowed down in launching the dating service.
“We’ve been really slow, actually, with this rollout,” Charmaine Hung, a product manager at Facebook Dating, told CNN Business.
“We really wanted to make sure we got it right because dating is so personal”, Hung added.

Facebook Inc, the parent company of Instagram, said the dating site will have a feature for users to integrate their Instagram account with Facebook dating profile and add Instagram followers to their Secret Crush lists, a feature that will allow users to explore potential romantic relationships within their friend circle.

The social network site said the dating service would be optional for Facebook users, adding that dating activity of users will not appear on their profile or news feed.
