Elon Musk modified his Twitter bio to “Chief Twit” on Wednesday, because the Tesla CEO and world’s richest man enters the ultimate phases of finalizing a deal to purchase the corporate.
The change may very well be an indication that Musk plans to appoint himself CEO of Twitter as soon as he acquires it — or create a “made-up” title as he has at Tesla, the place he’s listed on monetary paperwork as “Technoking.”
CNBC first reported in May that Musk was likely to name himself interim CEO after closing the $44 billion deal. It could be a short lived association that may final “a few months,” in accordance to CNBC. But so much has modified since May, so it is unclear if Musk plans to tackle a short lived or everlasting title, if any in any respect.
Musk didn’t instantly reply to a request for remark from Insider.
A Delaware choose gave Musk and Twitter until this Friday at 5 p.m. ET to close a deal. If it is not reached, a trial will resume in November, which specialists instructed Insider Musk would likely lose.
Musk tried to get out of the deal, however agreed again to purchase Twitter at his unique supply earlier this month — after a bevy of his private texts had been launched as half of Twitter’s lawsuit towards him.
Twitter’s present CEO is Parag Agrawal, whose relationship with Musk imploded after Musk’s preliminary supply. Some of the launched texts confirmed the falling out that led to Musk initially pulling out of the deal.
